This catalogue highlights organisations that operate their own federated platforms such as Mastodon, PeerTube, or other ActivityPub software using their own domain name. Companies, charities, and governments use their .com or .org address for their own web site and email, but more are starting to host their own social media publishing as well.
There is also a map view.
If an organisation only has a profile on a shared instance (e.g. mastodon.social), it is not included in this list. For a comprehensive list of organisations that have ActivityPub accounts, see Prominent Fediverse Accounts by Stefan Bohacek.
In years to come, these organisations will be remembered as the pioneers of a decentralised, empowered social web. They deserve a follow 😉
While some of these entities may also offer account creation or open membership, the focus is on official, self-hosted channels for publishing, usually for employees or for member organisations.
If you’d like to be added to this list, or you want to suggest a listing, please message me. If it’s self-hosted (meaning the organisation controls the platform, even if it’s hosted by a hosting company) and it federates over ActivityPub, I’d like to know about it – any platform. Are you federating your own WordPress? That counts!
If you’d like to use this data, it is available under ODbL v1.0.
